How Tea Can Improve Productivity

It’s amazing how much a small cup of tea in the morning can help you! I often drink a cup of Darjeelings in the mornings and I notice a great difference in my productivity. Though caffeine is the main factor that wakes me up and helps me focus, there are other benefits of tea that can help improve your productivity.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants in tea help you in so many ways. To start, antioxidants can help promote a healthy immune system. This means you’re less likely to wake up sick. I don’t know about you, but I get absolutely nothing done when I am sick. To help avoid a cold or flu, drink a big cup of tea in the mornings.

Antioxidants are also said to reverse memory loss and promote healthy brain cells. Healthy brain cells and a better memory will help you focus and think clearly in the morning, which is important when you have lots of work to do.

Caffeine

Tea such as Darjeeling contains a good amount of caffeine to increase your metabolism and wake you up in the morning. Green teas and Darjeeling contain less caffeine than coffee so you will be awake but you won’t get the jitters. It can be hard to focus when you’re shakyy so if coffee causes that, opt for a cup of tea instead.

Antidepressant Properties

Believe it or not Darjeeling tea is said to have antidepressant properties. I’m not sure if this is scientifically proven, but tests seem to suggest that tea can help with depression. “According to Japanese researchers, frequent consumption of green tea was associated with a lower prevalence of depressive symptoms.”
Depression symptoms can really prohibit your productivity during the day. You may feel sluggish and tired, not wanting to do anything. Tea may be a healthy way to give you energy and help you have a better mood in the mornings.

Hydration

Dehydration can cause headaches, dizziness, and sleepiness which in turn can really reduce your productivity. No one wants to work when they have headaches. Drinking a few cups of tea a day can really help hydrate you, keeping you energetic throughout the day. According to Beth Johnston at Teas Etc, “tea hydrates the body as effectively as water.”

 Soothing Properties

Stomach aches throughout the day can inhibit productivity as well. No one wants to sit down and work when their tummy is upset. Certain teas can help soothe and calm your stomach so you can get back to your work! Some of the best soothing teas include:

-Peppermint Tea: can calm stomach muscles
-Chamomile Tea: can relax stomach contractions
-Ginger Tea: Contains volatile oils and phenol compounds that can aid in digestion
